WESTON, Mass. – Sophomore attacker Maddie Desimio-Maloney surpassed her previous single-game high tallying four goals as Simmons lacrosse (5-2, 3-0 GNAC) defeated Regis College, 20-3, early Wednesday evening.

Fifteen seconds into the game, junior Marita Nothacker ignited a five-goal first quarter, scoring on a free position. A minute later, junior Julia Chausse gave the Sharks the two-goal lead before connecting with senior Sammi Hogan 39 seconds later. Just before the end of the period, graduate senior Abby Stoller converted on a pair of free position shots to take a 5-0 advantage.

There was no looking back as the Sharks continued to pour on the offense in the second quarter, scoring eight goals – including a player-up goal by Nothacker at the 10-minute mark. Six different Sharks scored in the second quarter, including Desimio-Maloney, who recorded two of her career single-game best four goals in the game. With under two minutes to play in the half, sophomore Frida Turriza put the Sharks up 13-0 heading into the intermission.

When the teams returned at the start of the third quarter, the Pride managed to keep the quiet down the Shark offense. Throughout the first 10 minutes of the period, Regis allowed just one goal by Nothacker before sophomore Kat Wood connected with Desimio-Maloney on back-to-back goals to give Simmons the 16-0 advantage.

Before the end of the third quarter, senior Riley Campbell recorded her first goal of the season to put Simmons in front 17-0. Regis broke up the shutout on a player advantage with 20 seconds to play to make it a 17-1 game.

The Sharks added another three goals in the final period to register their first 20-goal game of the season and move to 5-2 on the season, including maintaining an unblemished conference mark. Senior goalkeeper Katie Castle earned her third victory of the season registering five saves in 60 minutes.
