BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons lacrosse (4-1, 2-0 GNAC) moved to 2-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a convincing, 16-1, victory over Lasell University on Saturday afternoon.

The Sharks offense wasted little time, scoring eight goals in the first quarter of play. Graduate senior Abby Stoller got the offense started, finding the back of the net within the first minute of play. Moments later, junior Julia Chausse connected with sophomore Frida Turriza to give Simmons the 2-0 lead.

After Stoller scored her second goal of the period, Chausse added a goal to her own statistic line to put the Sharks ahead, 4-0. Simmons was far from done. Junior Cameron Richards and sophomore Kat Wood scored within a minute of each to increase the spread to six. Stoller concluded the quarter with back-to-back goals, including the final goal of the period on a pass from graduate senior Emily Duffley.

Simmons did not let up at the start of the second period. Sophomore Maddie Desimio-Maloney converted on a free position opportunity to give the Sharks a nine-goal lead before burying her second goal of the game less than minute later. Junior Marita Nothacker concluded first half scoring, with a free position goal to send the Sharks into halftime with an 11-0 lead.

When the teams returned to begin the second half, the fire in the Sharks offense did not let up. Stoller registered her, game-leading, fifth goal a minute into the period, before connecting with Nothacker moments later to increase their lead to 13-0. For the second time in the game, Hogan and Wood connected for the game's 14th goal before Turriza and Richards capped off the scoring with back-to-back goals with five minutes left.

Making her first start of the season, senior goalie Katie Castle earned her second victory of the season, registering eight saves in 60 minutes.
