Neelon Named GNAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons University?s Maegan Neelon (Scarborough, Maine) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women?s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the week of March 4-10, it was announced today by the league. 

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University's Maegan Neelon (Scarborough, Maine) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the week of March 4-10, it was announced today by the league. 

Neelon becomes the first Shark to earn the honor since Kate Bowers was named for the week of March 13-19, 2017. 

The first year tallied four points on three goals and an assist in two matches, while adding three ground balls and a caused turnover. The attacker made her collegiate debut by netting two goals and adding an assist in addition to picking up three ground balls and causing a turnover in Simmons' 19-0 victory over visiting Southern Vermont College on March 8. The Scarborough High School product came back less than 24 hours later to find the back of the net again with a goal at Albertus Magnus College to help the Sharks to an 11-3 conference win over the Falcons. 

A Nursing major, Neelon leads all Simmons rookies in points (four), goals (three), assists (one) and caused turnovers (one). 

The Sharks are currently 2-0 on the season, including 1-0 in league play and return to action on Wednesday, March 13 when they travel to Providence, R.I. to take on GNAC rival Johnson & Wales University at 7:00 p.m.
