Martensson Named to 2011 ECAC Lacrosse All-Star Team

Simmons Lacrosse freshman Seneca Martensson (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2011 All-Star Second Team at the defender position. Martensson was the only Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) athlete to receive the All-Star honor.

Simmons Lacrosse freshman Seneca Martensson (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2011 All-Star Second Team at the defender position. Martensson was the only Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) athlete to receive the All-Star honor.

The ECAC nod follows a standout season for the first-year Shark in which Martensson received GNAC All-Conference First Team honors and helped the Simmons squad to their first ever post-season GNAC and ECAC tournament appearances.

"I am so proud of Seneca. This year she was a standout defender on the field," said Head Coach Amanda Maxwell. "As a first-year player she started every game and was the glue for our defense, quite a big role for a freshman. She stepped up to this challenge and played as though she had years of collegiate experience. I am thrilled that she will be with the program for three more years and continue to lead the defense."
