WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior right-hander Maddie Castigliego and first-year right-hander Piper Kinney secured Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week honors announced by the league Monday afternoon.

Castigliego earned Player of the Week following an outstanding week both in the circle and at the plate. In the circle, she posted a 2-0 record to improve to 12-8 on the season, while maintaining a two-to-one strikeout-to-walk ratio, tallying 13 strikeouts to just six walks.

Additionally, in an 8-0 shutout against Norwich University on Saturday afternoon, Castigliego became the 18th player in Simmons history to record her 100th base-hit of her career.

Kinney brought home Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season after tossing back-to-back two hitters. Against Anna Maria College early Friday evening, Kinney struck out nine Amcats in complete game shutout, while allowing just two hits and walking just one.
