Full NFHCA Academic Team Award Release

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – Simmons field hockey was one of 61 Division III programs to receive the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Team Award announced by the coaching organization on Wednesday.

The announcement comes after 11 Sharks earned NFHCA Academic Squad honors and junior Emilia Elko was named a three-time NFHCA Scholar of Distinction recipient. With a fall semester team grade-point average of 3.54, Simmons was one of a trio of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) schools to be recognized.

The NFHCA National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team GPA of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year. Middlebury College secured the top spot amongst all Division III programs, while MIT was second.
