GENEVA, N.Y. – After a breakout season with 22 goals, junior forward Anna Tedeschi became the first Simmons field hockey player since 2016 to earn NFHCA All-Region First Team honors announced by the coaching organization on Wednesday afternoon.

Classmate, junior forward Sydney Gonyea joined Tedeschi to be recognized regionally, earning All-Region Second Team honors for the third time in her career. It is also the first time since 2016, the Sharks have had two players receive the accolades (Julie Saltamartini – first team; Robin Powell – second team).

Ranked sixth in the nation in goals per game and second in the GNAC, Tedeschi was named to the All-GNAC First Team earlier this month. Becoming the first Sharks since Julie Saltamartini in 2016 to earn regional first team honors, Tedeschi registered six multiple goal games, including a four-goal game in a 4-0 shutout over non-conference Clark University.

Gonyea secured NFHCA All-Region second team honors for the third time her career after being named to the NFHNCA Watch List at the beginning of the season. The New Hampshire native was a pivotal leader of the Sharks offense leading the conference in assists, dishing out 16 helpers, to find herself ranked sixth amongst the nation's leaders.

The pair were two of eight student-athletes in the GNAC to receive recognition.
