BRIGHTON, Mass. – Junior forward Anna Tedeschi had herself a game, registering a career single-game best four goals in Simmons field hockey (5-1) shutout win over Clark University (2-4) on Tuesday evening.

The Sharks were quick to draw first blood scoring in the opening minutes. Junior Hannah Groves collected a rebound and slid the ball to a wide open Tedeschi in front of the cage take the 1-0 lead.

It remained a tight, one-goal game for the remainder of the first half. With seconds left on the clock, Clark looked poised to score the equalizer being awarded a pair of penalty corners, but they were unable to convert as Simmons took the 1-0 lead into the break.

When the teams returned at the start of the second half, the Sharks continued to pester the Cougar defense. Early in the third quarter, junior forward Sydney Gonyea found Tedeschi hanging out in front of the cage once again for the second Shark goal.

But the night was not complete for Tedeschi. Midway through the fourth quarter she tipped in a pass from junior Emilia Elko, then a minute later knocked in her the final goal of the game.

First-year goalkeeper Haley Bright picked up her second shutout of the season, tallying two saves to move to 2-1 on the season.
