Eleven From Field Hockey Earn NFHCA Academic Squad Honors

GENEVA, N.Y. – Eleven members of the Simmons field hockey program were named to the 2022 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad the association announced Thursday afternoon.

Aria Badra, Maddie Beckwith, Haley Dover, Emilia Elko, Lilah Gendreau, Sydney Gonyea, Hannah Groves, Alison Michalik, Izzy Sciplini, Emma Sheehan, and Ainslee Shrout all earned National Academic Squad honors. 

The group were amongst 82 student-athletes from across the GNAC to receive the honors. Simmons was second amongst conference schools with 11 student-athletes represented. 

The NFHCA National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors undergraduate collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year, and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach. 

The Sharks finished the fall 2022 season with a program-best 16-3 record which included 13 shutouts – second most in the nation.
