Field Hockey Selected Fourth in GNAC Coaches Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. – Coming off a 10-6 season which included an 8-3 mark in conference action, Simmons field hockey was picked fourth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pre-Season Coaches Poll announced Thursday.

Last season, the Sharks made history snapping Saint Joseph's College of Maine's 25-conference game winning streak following a 2-1 win on the road. Returning for her sophomore season, Sydney Gonyea led the Sharks with 14 goals and 32 points to earn her All-GNAC First Team honors. Joined by 11 other returners, Simmons welcomes seven new comers to the squad this fall.  

Defending champion Johnson & Wales chosen to finish first receiving 138 total points, including six first place votes. Saint Joseph's College of Maine was selected second with 127 points and three first place votes, while the 2021 GNAC runner-up, Colby-Sawyer, was third with 124 points and two first place votes.
