WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University field hockey player Emily Plummer (San Diego, Calif.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week of October 28 to November 3, it was announced today by the league. 

The honor marks the second time this season that Plummer has earned the award to join teammate Olivia Trull (Lowell, Mass.) as the only players in the conference to be tabbed multiple times this season. Trull was selected for the second time last week by the GNAC. Plummer was also tapped as the conference's top player for the week of September 2-8. Simmons boasts multiple Player of the Week honorees in the same season for the first time since Jenna Gagnon (2013-16) and Julie Saltamartini (2014-17) were each named twice during the 2014 campaign. 

Plummer scored two goals, including a game-winner in two matches for the Sharks. The forward bookended the Simmons scoring effort in the GNAC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals against visiting Johnson & Wales University on November 2. The sophomore scored the game's opening goal, two minutes into the contest, and the game-winning marker with 2:16 gone in the second overtime period to send the Sharks to the GNAC Tournament Semifinals. 

For the season, Plummer has started 17 of 19 matches and ranks second on the team in points (15) and goals (six), while placing 11^th among league leaders in goals, 16^th in points and 18^th in assists (three). The graduate of Poway High School recorded her second multi-goal effort of the season on Saturday and the fifth of her career. Plummer registered her second career hat trick earlier in the year when she scored three times vs. University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on September 7. 

The International Relations major has started 35 of 38 career matches for Simmons, while scoring 17 goals and adding five assists for 39 lifetime points. 

The third-seeded Sharks are currently 8-11 on the season, including a 4-4 mark in GNAC play and return to action on Wednesday, November 6 when they travel to Newton, Mass. to take on number two seed Lasell University in the GNAC Tournament semifinals at 2:30 p.m.
