Trull Leads Field Hockey over Becker, 3-0

LEICESTER, Mass. -- Senior forward Olivia Trull (Lowell, Mass.) tallied three points with a goal and an assist to lead the Simmons University field hockey team over host Becker College, 3-0, this afternoon at Alumni Field in Leicester, Mass. The Sharks improve to 4-5 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 4-3.

LEICESTER, Mass. -- Senior forward Olivia Trull (Lowell, Mass.) tallied three points with a goal and an assist to lead the Simmons University field hockey team over host Becker College, 3-0, this afternoon at Alumni Field in Leicester, Mass. The Sharks improve to 4-5 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 4-3.

Simmons owned a 15-11 shot advantage and held an 8-6 margin on penalty corners.

The Sharks struck just over four minutes into the game off a penalty corner. Sophomore forward Emily Plummer (San Diego, Calif.) sent the insert pass to junior midfielder Maggie Fuzak (Buffalo, N.Y.), who blasted a shot from the top of the circle for her second goal of the season and a 1-0 lead for the visitors.

Simmons picked up an insurance goal with 1:42 to go in the third quarter when Trull found junior forward Lily D'Anna (Woodstock, Vt.) alone in front of the cage for her second marker of the year with 1:52 remaining in the period.

Trull capped the scoring for the Sharks with a goal coming wtih 7:40 remaining in the game after converting a cross from sophomore midfielder Lilly Devitt (Belmont, Mass.) for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. 

Senior forward Jocelyn Lebel (North Grafton, Mass.) led the Becker offensive effort with four shots including three on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) stopped eight shots to record her third shutout of the season and eighth of her career for Simmons, while sophomore goalie Baileigh Griese (Woodstock, N.Y.) recorded seven saves for the Hawks.

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, September 28 when they travel to Weston, Mass. to take on Great Northeast Athletic Conference foe Regis College (Mass.) at 11:00 a.m., while Becker is back on the field on September 27 when it heads to Worcester, Mass. to play Worcester Polytechnic Institute at 4:30 p.m.
