Plummer Named GNAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University field hockey player Emily Plummer (San Diego, Calif.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week of September 2-8, it was announced today by the league. 

Plummer becomes the first Simmons player to earn the award since Sammy Rondeau (2014-17) was named the top player for the week of October 23-29, 2017. 

The forward tallied three goals in two matches on five shots for six points during the week. A graduate of Poway High School, Plummer scored all three goals to record her second career hat trick to help the Sharks earn a 6-0 victory over visiting University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on September 7. 

The sophomore currently leads Simmons in scoring with three goals in as many matches, while ranking second among GNAC leaders. 

For her career, the International Relations major was named a GNAC Second Team All-Conference selection a year ago and has 14 goals and a pair of assists for 30 points in 22 career contests. 

The Sharks return to action on Tuesday, September 10 when they travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on Worcester Polytechnic Institute at 4:30 p.m.
