WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College's Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week of October 23-29, it was announced by the league today. Rondeau is the second Shark to earn the accolade this year following senior forward Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.), who was named the league's top player for the week of September 25 to October 1.

The senior earned the award after racking up 11 points on five goals and an assist in a pair of wins for Simmons. The forward tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lead the Sharks to a 3-2 victory over University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on October 23. Her game-deciding marker also gave her 100 career points to become just the fourth player in school history to reach the century mark. Rondeau capped the week with her second career hat trick, scoring three times and adding an assist for a seven-point outing to fuel Simmons in an 8-0 rout over sixth-seeded Anna Maria College in the GNAC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals on October 28.

A graduate of Franklin High School, Rondeau has started all 18 matches and is enjoying the best season of her outstanding career with the Sharks. She ranks fifth among league leaders with 40 points and 16 goals, while standing fourth with eight assists and is one of just two players in the conference with at least 16 goals and eight assists. Rondeau also ranks fifth in the GNAC with four game-winning goals. The Tri-Captain ranks 37th in the nation with 2.22 points per game and is tied for second among all NCAA Division III players with five goals in a game this season, reaching the mark and adding an assist to set the school record for goals and points (11) in an 8-0 win at Wheelock College on September 13. The senior has figured in Simmons scoring with either a goal or an assist on 10 occasions this season and has tallied multiple goals four times.

For her career, Rondeau currently ranks fourth all-time for the Sharks with 107 points and 41 goals, while her career total of 25 assists is just one short of tying the school standard. She has played in all 75 contests during her time at Simmons and was named to the GNAC Second Team last year.

The Sharks are currently 12-6 on the season, including a 5-2 mark in league play. Simmons captured the number three seed in the GNAC Tournament and travels to Standish, Maine on Wednesday, November 1 to take on second-seeded Saint Joseph's College (Maine) in the Semifinals in a 4:00 p.m. match.
