Saltamartini Named GNAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week Again

WINTHROP, Mass. - Simmons College field hockey player Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of September 1-7, it was announced today by the league.

Simmons College field hockey player Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today. The honor marks the second straight week she has earned the award.

The honor marks a league-high fourth time that she has won the award. She was also named the GNAC?s top rookie last week as well as for the weeks of September 1-7 and September 8-14.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College field hockey player Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today. The honor marks the second straight week she has earned the award.   

In two matches, the first year tallied four points on a pair of goals. The forward potted both of her scores in the Sharks' 8-0 victory over visiting Mount Ida College in the GNAC season opener on September 13. 

A graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Saltamartini has already registered multiple goal outings twice and is tied for the team lead with four goals, while ranking second in points with nine. She leads all GNAC newcomers in points and goals in five matches. 

Simmons is enjoying a two-match win streak and is currently 3-3 on the season, including 1-0 in GNAC play. The Sharks will be in action again on Saturday, September 20 when they had to Paxton, Mass. to take on Anna Maria College at 12:00 p.m.
