Sharks Field Hockey Falls to NEC, 4-1

Henniker, N.H. -- Simmons field hockey fell to the New England College Pilgrims, 4-1 Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference action. Jennifer Adams scored a natural hatrick for the Pilgrims who moved to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the NAC.  

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. ? Powered by a pair of goals from sophomore Kirsten Kilburn, the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team defeated Simmons College by a 3-0 margin in non-conference action at the MHC Turf Field. With the victory, the Lyons improve to 6-5 on the season, while the Sharks move to 4-11 overall.

Kristen O'Connell broke the scoreless first half at 18:50, beating Sharks goalkeeper Carolyn Baremore (East Lyme, Conn.) off an assist from Kate Roberge. The Sharks continued to attack the Pilgrim's defense but goalkeeper Courtney Duquette made some key saves on Gabrielle LaPerriere (Auburn, Maine) and Amy Cronin (Georgetown, Mass.) to maintain NEC's lead into halftime.

Adams scored three goals in the second half to put the Pilgrims up 4-0. Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the Sharks to deny Duquette the shutout.

The Sharks return to action on Wednesday, October 3rd when they host Rivier College at 7:00 p.m.
