BOSTON, Mass. -- Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) scored two goals, as the Sharks were victorious against Colby-Sawyer College 4-2 in NAC Conference play Saturday at the Winsor School Field.
The Chargers were on the scoreboard first when Alexa Comensanas found the back of the net off a pass from teammate Katharine Kessler at 30:17. But the Sharks responded less than two minutes later when Teague buried a shot past goalkeeper Colleen O'Hurley at 31:52 off a perfect pass from senior Lee Sutherland (Wolfeboro, N.H.).
The Sharks struck again before the half expired when sophomore Seneca Martensson (East Longmeadow, Mass.) rifled a shot past O'Hurley to give Simmons the lead.
Simmons dominated the second half with eight penalty corners to the Chargers two. Sutherland set up Tighe for her second goal of the game at 45:32 to give the Sharks some insurance. The Chargers offense cut the lead on a tally from Molly Prudden 3-2 but it was not enough as sophomore Monica Doucette (Rockport, Maine) scored her fifth goal of the week to finish the scoring for both teams.
The Sharks move to .500 on the season at 7-7 and 2-4 in the NAC while the Chargers fall to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Simmons will host Mount Holyoke College on October 12th at 6:00 p.m. for a non-conference match up. Colby-Sawyer will host Thomas College on October 15th at 11:00 a.m. for a NAC conference contest.
