Sharks Fall to Beavers 1-0 in Field Hockey

FARMINGTON, Maine ? Sharks Field Hockey was defeated 1-0 by the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers Saturday in NAC Conference play. The win moved the Beavers to 1-0 in the conference, while the Sharks dropped to 0-2.

BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons Field Hockey fell to the Spartans from Castleton State College, 6-3, in North Atlantic Conference action Wednesday evening. Kealy Chipman scored three goals in the win for the Spartans.

FARMINGTON, Maine – Sharks Field Hockey was defeated 1-0 by the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers Saturday in NAC Conference play. The win moved the Beavers to 1-0 in the conference, while the Sharks dropped to 0-2.

A sizable crowd at Prescott Field watched a fierce back-and-forth game between the Beavers and Sharks that included many nail-biting penalty corners. It was a tightly played game with only one goal scored at 22:29 by Beavers Kashley Weymouth (Gardiner, Maine) and assisted by Jessica Martin (Winthrop, Maine).

The UMF Beavers dominated in shots on goal with 25 to Simmons' three. Sharks goalkeeper Renna Smith (Belfast, Maine) made 14 saves, while UMF's Curran Brierley (East Hampton, NY) made two.

Simmons returns to action on September 25th when they travel to Thomas College for a 1:00 p.m. game. UMF Field Hockey hosts Lasell at noon on Sunday, September 25th at Prescott Field.
