Husson scored early, handling much of the game in the first half. Simmons had trouble maintaining possession in the midfield and a penalty stroke quickly left the Sharks down 2-0.  A late first-half challenge saw Husson score again, putting the Sharks down 3-0 at the break.

Simmons wasn't ready to give up, and inspired play by the seniors led to an aggressive comeback. Sypher took a feed in, beating three defenders and the goalie to get Simmons on the board. The Sharks quickly followed up with another offensive attack that saw Sypher rip a shot through traffic, tapped in by waiting freshman Marianna Brown (Newton, N.H.). The Sharks continued the comeback, and great passing by sophomore Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) and junior Kara Masse (South Portland, Maine) opened up the left field to allow Sypher her final goal of the game. She collected a Tighe pass off a penalty corner and finished it, tying the game 3-3.

Both teams battled for the remainder, but it was Husson who scored with under two minutes remaining to take away the win.

Goalkeeper Szkolt had 20 saves for Simmons on the day.

"We played our best field hockey of the season this weekend," said Head Coach Kate Leonard. "After a sloppy, slow first half, I was very proud of how we turned it around to fight all the way back and tie the game. I hope the seniors leave with good memories of their last game and of their time as a Simmons Shark."
