After an evenly played opening of the first half, the Salve offense began to overpower the Simmons defense. The Seahawks outshot the Sharks just 7-6 in the first half, before finding the back of the net. Senior Andrea Michel struck first, assisted by junior Ali Campagna in the 27th minute. The Seahawks then made the next two goals off offensive corners, by Campagna and freshman Kelly Burke, respectively, both unassisted.

In the second half, Salve added two more goals to the scoreboard. Junior Brittany Lopes slipped one past freshman goalkeeper Molly Maidman (West Hartford, Conn.) to boost Salve to 4-1 in the 49th minute. Four minutes later, freshman Kelly Allan added another goal to the Seahawks' tally, which would be the final goal of the game, bringing the final score to 5-1.

Simmons saw strong defensive play from sophomore Nicole Morrison (Stoughton, Mass.) and senior captain Maggie Weeks (Melvin Village, N.H.), who had a defensive save for the Sharks. Sypher tallied five shots on goal, along with four shots from sophomore Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, N.H.).

Simmons will face off with Wheelock College at home on Saturday, September 19 at 1:00 PM at home.
