Senior Katie Bonney (Auburn, Maine) scored two goals to lead the Simmons field hockey team to a 4-0 win over Regis College in a non-conference match-up on Sunday afternoon. The Sharks have now won their past two games and improve to 3-8 overall, while the Pride fall to 0-13 on the season.

Bonney got things started early in the first half when she sliced through the Regis defense and shot past goalie Kristen Tavares just three minutes into the match.  Nine minutes later, Bonney scored her fourth goal of the season when she directed a Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, N.H.) pass into the back of the net to put the Sharks up, 2-0.  Less than two minutes later the Sharks attack would go on to score the game's third goal as junior Maggie Weeks (Tuftonboro, N.H.) gathered a pass off a corner play from junior Emily Sypher (Orono, Maine). Sutherland scored the game's final goal on a penalty stroke with 10 minutes remaining in the first period, making the score, 4-0.

"Katie Bonney was a force to be reckoned with, scoring two goals in quick succession to take away the game," said Head Coach Kate Leonard. "She continued to attack the defense, inspiring confidence in her teammates.  Overall, we need to continue our great teamwork, but really pick it up a notch on Thursday."

The Sharks will host Framingham State on Thursday, October, 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Winsor School Field.
