Simmons Field Hockey endured a tough loss to nationally ranked Babson College Tuesday night, with a final score of 8-0. Freshman goalkeeper Mary Simeoli (Westfield, MA) was able to make 15 saves against a fast, aggressive Babson offence that racked up 23 shots on goal, to Simmons' 0.

Babson scored five times in the first period, Coleen Kelly (Milton, MA) hitting her mark twice, along with teammates Jess Paladino (Turner, ME), Sarah Fredlund (New Preston, CT), and Karin Dietz (Troy, Mich). Paladino struck twice more in the second period, along with a goal from Nicole Cemeli (Towaco, NJ) in the 63rd minute to make it an 8-0 game.

"Kara Masse (Portland, ME) and Nicole Morrison (Stoughton, MA)-even with a broken finger- had especially powerful performances for us on defense," said Head Coach Kate Leonard.  "For Thursday's game we will work on winning the 50/50 balls, switching fields, and our focus in the offensive circle. If we can up the intensity and control ourselves more on offense then we will see more scoring opportunities."

Sharks Field Hockey will return to action on Thursday, September 11 at home v. MIT, with a start time of 7:00pm.
