Simmons College has been awarded the North Atlantic Conference's Team Sportsmanship Award for field hockey, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.  The honor marks the first time in the program's history. 

"Winning the Sportsmanship Award gives us a good feeling," said Head Coach Kate Leonard.  "We had several tough conference games: losing by just one goal, having unlucky days, and sustaining injuries that made the difference.  A weaker team would have given up and taken these tough losses as a bad sign.  However, the girls always worked hard, believed in the next chance, asked questions about how to improve, and they have been rewarded for their perseverance.   We were a much better team at the end of the season than the beginning, and I am glad to have the bulk of this group returning for another go."
