The Sharks field hockey squad ended a solid 2007 season that included a berth in the North Atlantic Conference tournament. Their final record was a modest 7-11 that included a 4-4 mark in the NAC.

Leading the way this season were a pair of transfers that helped lift the squad offensively. Sophomore Austyn Joaquin tallied six goals this season while starting all 18 games for the Sharks, and earned NAC rookie of the week honors in the final week of the regular season.

Senior Natalie West, who was playing her first year of field hockey for the Sharks also tallied six goals and an assist, netting a hat trick against Regis, and earned NAC rookie of the week honors once.

Senior tri-captain Cammy Keiler, had an excellent year as a midfielder, and was named to the NAC First Team All-Conference squad for her stellar efforts.  She tallied four goals including two game winners, but it was her selflessness that was her best quality. When the team was left without a goalkeeper for a bit she volunteered, and played nine games in net compiling a .691 save percentage and earning a shutout.

Next season the Sharks will have Joaquin, West, and Maggie Weeks returning which should boost them a little higher than they were this season especially at the offensive end.

"Given a set-back by not having a goalkeeper early in the season, we managed to battle through and fought for a strong position in the NAC tournament," said head coach Joy Ramsbotham. "Moving some players around, it gave some younger players a chance to get  a lot of game experience and it was exciting to see them step in and make an immediate impact. With the loss of just one senior, our returners are poised for a strong season in '08."
