Volleyball Returns From Connecticut with A Pair of Wins Over Eastern Connecticut, Bay Path

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Simmons volleyball (2-4) returned to their winning ways sweeping Saturday afternoon's tri-match against Eastern Connecticut State (3-1) and Bay Path University (1-3). 

Posting a .450 attack percentage, graduate senior Chelsea Simmons led the way with 21 kills on 40 attempts and just three errors, while also tallying eight service aces in the two wins. Senior outside hitter Claire Conners followed up with 16 kills and junior April Beatty rounded out the trio in double digit kills with 11.

MATCH 1: Simmons 3, Eastern Connecticut 0

The Sharks set the tone in the first match of the day, edging out the Warriors in the first set, 27-25. It was the Sharks day from then on. Conners guided the Sharks with 12 kills, while Chelsea Simmons came one kill shy of her third double-double of the season, tallying nine kills and 15 assists. 

MATCH 2: Simmons 3, Bay Path 0

Simmons carried the momentum into their second match of the day. Against Bay Path University, Chelsea Simmons hit a staggering .476 with 12 kills on 21 attempts and just two errors. Additionally, she nearly notched her second triple-double of the season adding eight assists and seven digs.

Senior Kat Simeonidis came two service aces shy of tying her career single-game high, tallying seven, while pacing the Sharks with 17 assists.
