Conners, Simeonidis Secure GNAC Player and Setter of the Week Accolades

WINTHROP, Mass. – Juniors Claire Conners and Kat Simeonidis grabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week honors, announced by the league Monday afternoon.

Conners posted a team-high 44 kills on 123 attempts with 19 digs and a solo block over the course of the three-game week. Late in the week, Conners helped the Sharks snap a four-game skid hitting .333 with 12 kills on 27 attempts and just three errors in a 3-0 win over Bay Path University in Willimantic, Connecticut. Early in the day, she tallied a game-high 19 kills against the host school, Eastern Connecticut State, while tallying seven digs.

Simeonidis paced the offense tallying 91 assists to go along with 18 digs, six kills and two block assists. Late in the week against Bay Path University, she helped the Sharks snap a four-game skid notching 31 assists and a game-high eight service aces. Early in the day against host school Eastern Connecticut State, she tallied 34 assists and seven digs.

The Sharks return to the hard-court on Thursday, September 15 when they travel to Salve Regina University for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Seahawks.
