WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore libero Joenissa Ortiz garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Libero of the Week, announced by the league Monday afternoon.

Ortiz guided the Sharks to the program's third straight win over Wentworth Institute of Technology to open the season on Thursday, Sept. 1. Against the Leopards, she tied her career single-game best, notching six service aces while tallying nine defensive digs. Ortiz closed out the week, surpassing her career single-game high in digs, recording 13 against nearby, non-conference rival Emerson College on Sunday morning.

Simmons returns to the hard-court on Wednesday, September 7 when they travel to Beverly, Massachusetts to face Endicott College at 7 p.m.
