Volleyball Extend Win-Streak to Four with Four-Set Win Over Regis

WESTON, Mass. – Simmons volleyball won its fourth straight match following a 3-1 victory over Regis College on the road in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action, Wednesday evening.

Sophomore Clare Conners led three Sharks in double figures, tallying 13 kills on 34 attempts for a .294 attack percentage. Senior Amanda Fortune followed up, hitting .464 notching 13 kills on 28 attempts, while junior Sydney Iannantuono rounded out the trio with 10 kills. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 – Simmons 25, Regis 21
The Sharks jumped out to the 1-0 match lead taking the first set, 25-21. Fortune was nearly perfect from the floor, registering three kills on five attempts, while sophomore Jayla Parnell posted a .375 attack percentage with three kills on eight attempts.

Set 2 – Regis 26, Simmons 24
Regis snuck one back, edging out Simmons 26-24 a tight, back-and-forth second set, to even the match a 1-1. The Pride's Kate Montigny hit .429 with four kills on seven attempts and one error from the floor, while Kamdyn Tenorio added three kills. 

Set 3 – Simmons 25, Regis 21
Fortune was nearly perfect from the floor in the third, registering five kills on nine attempts, to help the Sharks to the 25-21 win and re-gain the 2-1 match advantage. Conners followed up with a pair of kills, while Iannantuono tallie four digs in the set. 

Set 4 – Simmons 25, Regis 22
Hitting .350 as a team with 19 kills on 400 atempts and just five errors, the Sharks closed out the match with a 25-22 win. Iannantuono lead the way with five kills, while Fortune and Parnell combined to hit .444, tallying four kills on nine attempts.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Sydney Iannantuono registered his sixth double-double of the season, tallying 10 kills and 12 defensive digs.
  • Senior Amanda Fortune was flawless from the floor, posting a .464 attack percentage with 13 kills on 28 attempts.
  • Sophomore Claire Conners tied her career single-game best, leading the way with 14 kills.
  • Sophomore Kat Simeonidis paced the offense with 46 assists.

Simmons returns to the court on Saturday, Oct. 9, traveling to Chicopee, Mass. for a 1 p.m. tilt against GNAC foe Elms College.
