FRANKLIN, Mass. – Simmons volleyball continued its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) schedule following 3-0 sweep of Dean on the road, Wednesday evening.
Sophomore Claire Conners powered the Shark offense posting a .357 attack percentage, tallying seven kills on 14 attempts and just two miscues. First-year Nelani Majkia followed up with six kills on eight attempts, while April Beatty notched five kills in the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 – Simmons 25, Dean 12
The Sharks came out of the gate strong taking the first set from the Bulldogs, 25-12. Hitting .400 in the set, Conners notched five kills on 10 attempts, while also registering a pair of aces, along with junior Sydney Iannantuono and sophomore Kat Simeonidis.
Set 2 – Simmons 25, Dean 14
Majkia powered the offense in the second set with a perfect four-for-four from the floor. Iannantuono, Conners and Beatty followed up with two kills while Simeondis paced the offense with five assists.
Set 3- Simmons 25, Dean 18
The Bulldogs made it a match in the third set, clawing their way back before falling to the Sharks, 25-18. Senior Krissy Lloyd jumped into the action in the final set and was perfect five-for-five from the floor, while Jayla Parnell followed up with four kills. Simeondis and Saltzgiver combined for 13 assists to pace the offense en route to the three-set sweep.
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Claire Conners posted a .357 attack percentage (7 kills, 14 attempts, 2 errors).
- Sophomore Kat Simeondis was solid from the service line, tallying seven aces, while also notching seven digs.
- First-year Nelani Majikia was nearly perfect from the floor over two sets, tallying six kills on eight attempts with one error for a .625 hitting percentage.
