Conners Grabs GNAC Rookie of the Week Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore Claire Conners earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week honors announced Monday afternoon. The outside hitter from northern California guided the Sharks to a perfect 3-0 performance at the Trinity Tri-Tournament, which included a pair of five-set wins over Eastern Connecticut State and Trinity College.  

Over three matches, Conners posted an outstanding .377 attack percentage, tallying 28 kills on 61 attempts with five errors in addition to registering five total blocks. Conners was a steady offensive threat for the Sharks all weekend, beginning with hitting .429 and tallying three total blocks in a four-set, 3-1, win over Westfield State, Friday evening. The following day against Eastern Connecticut she posted nearly identical numbers in a five-set win over the Warriors, tallying 10 kills on 21 attempts with two blocks. She closed out the weekend, notching eight kills in a 3-2 win over Trinity.

The Sharks return to the hard-court this week when they host MIT on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. inside the Holmes Sports Center. Face coverings are required inside the Sports Center.
