Weeg, Gray-Williams Lead Volleyball in 3-0 Loss at Emerson

BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior outside hitter Morgan Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz.) put down a match-high 16 kills and junior setter Faith Gray-Williams (Las Vegas, Nev.) posted a double-double to lead the Simmons University women's volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 27-25) loss to host Emerson College this evening at Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gym in Boston, Mass. The Sharks fall to 14-7 on the season, while the Lions win their third in a row and eight of their last nine to improve to 14-5.

The Sharks fall to 14-7 on the season, while the Lions win their third in a row and eight of their last nine to improve to 14-5.

Both teams hit well for the evening with Emerson owning a .304 hitting percentage and Simmons recording a .218 mark.

Weeg hit .282 and added six digs, while Gray-Williams set for 35 assists to go with 15 digs for her sixth double-double of the year and added a pair of aces for the Sharks. First year outside hitter Sydney Iannantuono (East Lyme, Conn.) swung for 13 kills on a .300 hitting clip in addition to six digs and junior libero Morgan Lauvray (Murrieta, Calif.) got down for 11 digs.

Junior outside hitter Grace Tepper (Kensington, Md.) paced the Lions with 14.5 points on 11 kills, three aces and a block assist to go with six digs, while junior right side hitter Albany Alexander (Orlando, Fla.) spiked for 11 kills on a .409 hitting percentage and added a dig. Sophomore outside hitter Carolyn Vaimoso (Torrance, Calif.) contributed with seven kills and 11 digs. First year setter Caroline Bond (Macgungie, Pa.) directed the action with 33 assists for Emerson and added four kills, six digs and a pair of block assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Lauren Quan (San Diego, Calif.) led all servers with four aces and added 11 digs.

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, October 19 when it hosts Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Emmanuel College at Moore Gymnasium for a 12:00 p.m. match, while hosts University of New England on the same day at the same time.
