WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University women's volleyball player Morgan Lauvray (Murrieta, Calif.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week for the week of September 23-29, it was announced today by the league. 

Lauvray earns the honor for the second straight week and becomes the first Shark to earn the award in consecutive weeks since teammate Julia Fusco (Beverly, Mass.) was tabbed for the weeks of October 2-8 and October 9-15, 2017. 

In the team's only match of the week, the junior was outstanding on both sides of the net, firing five aces to go with 20 digs in four sets, while handling six of seven serves without a miscue in the Sharks 3-1 victory at Colby-Sawyer College on September 28. 

The Vista Murrieta High School product has played in all 13 matches and 50 sets for Simmons, while ranking third among GNAC leaders with 4.82 digs per set. The libero is tied for the team lead with 25 service aces and has registered multiple aces on six occasions, including a career-high of six vs. Regis College (Mass.) on September 21 to give her 11 aces in her last two contests. The three-year standout has tallied double-digit dig totals in every match this season, including five outings with 20 or more. The Political Science major got down for a career-high 29 digs vs. Wentworth Institute of Technology on September 5. Lauvray also boasts a .887 serve reception success rate. 

For her career, Lauvray has seen action in 251 sets over 71 matches, while picking up 597 digs for 2.38 per set to go with 69 aces for a rate of 0.27 per frame. 

Simmons is currently 9-4 on the season, including a perfect 3-0 in league play and off to the best start in school history since 2011. The Sharks are in action again on Wednesday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. when they take on GNAC foe Johnson & Wales University, which is ranked fifth in the nation in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
