BOSTON, Mass. – Junior outside hitter Morgan Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz.) spiked for 29 kills and junior setter Faith Gray-Williams (Las Vegas, Nev.) averaged 11.8 assists to lead the Simmons University women's volleyball team in a sweep over visiting Lasell University (3-0; 25-23, 25-16, 25-20) and Regis College (Mass.) (3-0; 25-3, 25-20, 25-14) this afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Moore Gymnasium in Boston, Mass. Lasell came away with a 3-2 (25-22, 10-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12) victory over Regis in the afternoon's middle match. The Sharks have won eight of their last 10 matches and improve to 8-4 overall, including 2-0 in league play, while the Lasers are now 4-8 and 2-2 and the Pride fall to 3-9 and 0-2. 

Simmons hit .296 as a team for the day with Weeg hitting .350, while picking up two digs and making two block assists. Gray-Williams served up an ace and scooped up nine digs. First year outside hitter Sydney Iannantuono (East Lyme, Conn.) spiked for 16 kills over the two matches and added 14 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Amanda Fortune (Round Rock, Texas) put down 16 kills on a .464 hitting mark to go with a pair of aces and five total blocks. Junior libero Morgan Lauvray (Murrieta, Calif.) led the defensive effort for the Sharks with 29 digs in six sets and tacked up six aces on the offensive end. 

Sophomore outside hitter Kiana Perez Diaz (Juncos, Puerto Rico) led all players with 32 kills for Lasell for the day in addition to seven aces and 25 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Meg Roberts (Newington, Conn.) swung for 16 kills and picked up 16 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Corina Lombardi (York, Maine) hit .292 for the day and registered 11 kills and three block assists. Sophomore setter Jess Langan (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) directed the offense with 59 assists, picked up 11 digs and fired four aces and first year libero Karissa Gaughan (Granby, Conn.) anchored the offense with 17 digs and added an ace. 

Senior middle blocker Lauren Butt (Topsfield, Mass.) recorded a torrid .576 hitting percentage to fuel a 20-kill afternoon and added six block assists to lead Regis. Senior outside hitter Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) finished with 16 kills for the day to leave her 12 shy of becoming the first player in school history to reach the 1,000 career mark. She also picked up 19 digs, got up for a pair of block assists and fired an ace. Sophomore libero Mica van der Meulen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) got down for 15 digs and fired six aces. Junior setter Tori Ondris (Mineloa, N.Y.) served for five aces, picked up eight digs and set for 26 assists. 

Weeg and Fortune each put down a dozen kills to lead Simmons past Lasell with Fortune hitting at a .476 clip. Iannantuono chipped in with nine kills and Gray-Williams averaged 13 assists per set with 39 to go with five digs. Lauvray anchored the defense with 18 digs and junior Riley Roberge (Peoria, Ariz.) fired four aces. Perez Diaz finished one kill short of a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs to pace the Lasers, while Lombardi hit .538 to power seven kills. Langan set for 21 assists and added seven digs and Roberts picked up nine digs. 

Lauvray served up three of her six aces against Regis in the opening set and finished with 11 digs, while Weeg spiked for 17 kills on a .419 hitting mark. Iannantuono put away eight kills in addition to scooping up 12 digs and Gray-Williams set for 32 assists to go with a pair of kills and four digs. Butt swung for six kills to lead Regis and posted a .429 hitting percentage to go with three block assists. First year outside hitter Samantha Silveira (East Taunton, Mass.) contributed with four kills on a .375 hitting mark in two sets and sophomore setter Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) set for eight assists and picked up three digs. 

Perez Diaz fueled the Lasell offense, in the team's win over Regis, with 23 kills and added 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. She also fired six aces. Roberts registered 12 kills and seven digs and sophomore right side hitter Julia Denning (Lathrop, Calif.) swung for nine kills on a .389 hitting clip. Langan set for 38 assists and added three aces and four digs, while Gaughan came up with 12 digs. Veasey (15) and Butt combined for 29 kills to pace Regis. Butt put down 12 straight kills before committing her first attack error and finished with a .684 hitting percentage, while getting up for three block assists. Veasey matched her kill total with 15 digs for her fifth double-double of the year. Ondris set for 24 assists and served for five aces to go with eight digs and van der Meulen fired six aces in addition to picking up 14 digs. 

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, September 28 when it heads to New London, N.H. to take on Colby-Sawyer College in GNAC action at 1:00 p.m., while Lasell hosts Framingham State University on September 24 at 7:00 p.m. and Regis travels to Willimantic, Conn. to take on Eastern Connecticut State University on September 24 at 7:00 p.m. as well.
