Weeg, Gray-Williams Lead Volleyball over Cedar Crest, 3-0

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- Junior outside hitter Morgan Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz.) spiked for a match-high 14 kills and junior setter Faith Gray-Williams (Las Vegas, Nev.) set for 33 assists to lead the Simmons University women's volleyball team over Cedar Crest College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-13), this afternoon at the Morrisville State College Tournament at the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities in Morrisville, N.Y. The Sharks improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 1-3.

Simmons cruised in the first and third sets, outscoring Cedar Crest by double-digits.

Weeg was extremely efficient with a .367 hitting mark and added a dig for the Sharks, while Gray-Williams picked up three digs, got up for a pair of block assists and fired two aces. Sophomore right side hitter Krissy Lloyd (Tampa, Fla.) put down eight kills, while junior libero Morgan Lauvray (Murrieta, Calif.) averaged five digs per set with 15 for the match and classmate Julia Fusco (Beverly, Mass.) got down for 13 digs to go with an ace.

Simmons returns to action on Thursday, September 5 when it hosts Wentworth Institute of Technology in its season opener at Moore Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
