BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College women's volleyball team did not drop a set en-route to a sweep in a tri-match over host Suffolk University and University of Saint Joseph this afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Regan Gymnasium in Boston, Mass. The Sharks improve to 11-11 overall and 8-3 in league play to secure the fourth seed in the upcoming GNAC Championship Tournament. Suffolk falls to 11-15 and 4-7, while the Blue Jays end their season at 11-16 and 4-7.

Simmons will host fifth-seeded Lasell College on Tuesday, November 1 at Moore Gymasium for a 7:00 p.m. tilt in Boston in the GNAC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals. Suffolk will head to Providence, R.I. on the same night as the number eight seed to take on top-seeded Johnson & Wales University at 7:00 p.m.

Simmons defeated Suffolk, 25-9, 25-20, 25-17 and hit a blistering .474 as a team in the first match of the day, before taking down Saint Joseph, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14 on a .253 hitting mark. 

First year outside hitter Morgan Weeg (Goodyear, Ariz.) did not commit an attack error vs. Suffok and put down 14 kills on a torrid .609 hitting mark to go with 10 digs for her team-high 13 double-double of the year. She also added a pair of aces. Senior middle blocker Abby Hart (Westfield, Mass.) was also very efficient with a .500 hitting percentage behind eight kills. She also collected three total blocks and a dig. First years Kenna McCarthy (Shelter Island, N.Y.) (18) and Carly Wanner-Hyde (Newington, Conn.) (17) combined for 35 assists with each serving up an ace, while senior outside hitter Kat Guillotte (New Bedford, Mass.) registered six kills on a .385 hitting mark, as one of five Sharks to hit better than .385 for the match, to go with nine digs.

Suffolk's sophomore threesome of Bridget Allison, Chidera Nwankwo and Talia Lombardo powered the Rams' offense scoring 18 of their 23 kills. Nwankwo's seven led the way with Lombardo and Allison providing six and five, respectively. Liz Kerek and Rachel Fancy set up Suffolk's offense notching 11 and nine assists, respectively. Defensively, Lombardo led the charge with eight digs with Allison led the Rams at the net with two blocks. 

Four Simmons players tallied eight or more kills vs. Saint Joseph, including a match-high of nine from Guillotte on an impressive .474 hitting mark. She also fired an ace and picked up five digs. Hart hit .462 and put down eight kills in addition to a pair of digs and first year middle blocker Allie Erk Thompson (Canton, Mass.) swung for eight kills on a .438 hitting percentage to go with three digs and a solo block. Weeg contributed with eight kills, eight digs and an ace, while senior libero topped all players with 10 digs and two aces. Wanner-Hyde doled out 17 assists and McCarthy handed out 16 to go with two aces and five digs.

First year outside hitter Jasmine Buckley (Beacon, N.Y.) and senior middle hitter Cassandra Grimaldi (Manchester, Conn.) each had five kills to lead Saint Joseph. Buckley also added eight digs and two aces. Sophomore setter Brenna Miller (McCleary, Wash.) recorded 16 assists and nine digs to go with an ace.
