NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Simmons College volleyball team was defeated by host Connecticut College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-19), this evening at Luce Field House in New London, Conn. The Sharks fall to 8-10 on the season, while the Camels win their fifth consecutive match to improve to 11-5.
Simmons junior libero Kat Guillotte (New Bedford, Mass.) fired three aces to lead all players, while anchoring the defensive side with a match-high 12 digs. Sophomore Sarah Woodward (Deerfield, Mass.) led the Sharks offense with five kills and a pair of aces to go with eight digs, while junior outside hitter Cailin Fredrickson (Columbia, Md.) chipped in with four kills and five digs.
Sophomore setter Katia Elisman (Lake Forest, Ill.) dished out a match-high 29 assists while
adding nine digs to lead Connecticut College. Ellla Johnson (Seal Beach, Calif.) tallied five kills and three blocks. Sophomore
libero Caroline Branigan (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) added seven digs and three assists for the
winning side.
Simmons returns to the court on Thursday, October 15 when it heads across the city to take on Emerson College at 7:00 p.m., while the Camels play again on October 16 when they host Trinity College at 7:00 p.m.
