2013 GNAC Volleyball All-Conference Honors Announced

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Volleyball fell to the visiting Rivier University Raiders, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-18) Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the Holmes Sports Center.  

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Simmons Volleyball was down 2-1 and came back to defeat the Colby College Mules, 3-2 for the first time in program history Saturday afternoon at Tufts University.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons first year Alexandria Itasaka (Bradford, Mass.) was named to the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Third Team announced Monday by the conference.

 

The libero led all Sharks in digs this season with 445 and digs per set with 3.59. She also ranked third on the team in assists per set and fifth in the GNAC in overall digs. She scored a season-high five points in the sharks 3-1 win over Suffolk University on Sep. 21 and recorded 25 digs in the Sharks 3-2 victory in the conference quarterfinals over Saint Joseph's (Me.) and semifinal loss to No. 1 seed Rivier.

 

Simmons Senior Nafeesa Connolly (Natick, Mass.) was named to the 2013 GNAC Women's Volleyball Sportsmanship Team and first year Morgan Kieon (North Attleboro, Mass.) received All-Tournament Team honors for her stellar performance in the Sharks playoff run.

 

The Sharks finished their 2013 campaign with an overall record of 11-25 and 7-4 in the GNAC.
