Sharks Pick Up First Win Over Newbury

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Springfield College Pride defeated the Simmons Sharks, 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-15) Friday evening on the first day of the Springfield Invitational. 

BOSTON Mass. -- Simmons Volleyball picked up their first win of 2013 with a 3-0 sweep of the Newbury College Nighthawks (25-13, 25-15, 25-15) Tuesday evening. The Sharks were led by Nicole Alberghini (Northborough, Mass.), who hit .409 on the evening with 10 kills and just one error on 22 attempts.

BOSTON, Mass. -- After dropping the first game 25-23, the Simmons Volleyball team won three straight games to defeat the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays, 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-21) Monday afternoon at the Holmes Sports Center.

Sharks first year Andalyn Duke (Litchfield Park, Ariz.) took the role of primary setter with 29 assists, while Kat Guillotte (New Bedford, Mass.) led the Simmons defense with 15 digs. Abby Hart (Westfield, Mass.) added two blocks and Rossi Fish (North Attleboro, Mass.) had a solid showing with eight kills and no errors on 14 attempts.

 

For the Nighthawks, Meghan McDermott posted 11 digs, while Courtney Banks led the team in hitting with five kills.

 

The Sharks hit .462 in game one and buried 17 kills in game three to close out their first win of the season.
