BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomore Krissy Robertson (Dedham, Mass.) and first-year Lorraine Mackiewicz (Edison, N.J.) combined for 16 kills against just three errors and Babson College took advantage of 11 services aces to collect a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 26-24) victory over Simmons College in non-conference volleyball action on Tuesday night at Staake Gymnasium.

With the victory, Babson evens its record at 4-4 on the season while Simmons falls to 0-8.

Sophomore Angela Price (Medway, Mass.) posted a game-high 16 assists and first-year Kristen Haislip (Waterford, Va.) registered a team-high 11 digs for the Beavers. Sophomores Alicia Wilde (Franklin, Mass.) and Mary Martin (East Haddam, Conn.) contributed seven and six kills, respectively, while first-year Alana Atchinson (Pembroke, Mass.) also chipped in with six kills.

First-years Morgan Kieon (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Abby Hart (Westfield, Mass.) each had four kills to lead Simmons, who got 10 assists from first-year Andalyn Duke (Litchfield Park, Ariz.) and 18 kills from first-year Alexandria Itasaka (Bradford, Mass.)

Babson fell behind 7-1 in the first set before scoring 11 of the next 13 points to grab a 12-9 lead. San Diego produced four service aces during the run, while Robertson came through with two of her eight kills. The opening game produced seven ties and four lead changes, with the Beavers trailing 22-19 before winning six of the final seven points to secure a two-point victory.

The Green and White never trailed in the second game, opening up a 6-2 advantage with the help of four early errors by the Sharks. Simmons would pull within one at 12-11, but Babson ran off the next five points, including three kills from Robertson and another from Martin, to push its lead to 17-11 on the way to a 25-19 win.

The third set featured 14 ties and seven lead changes with neither team leading by more than three points at any point. A pair of Babson errors and a kill from Kieon helped the Sharks match their largest lead at 17-14 before the Beavers rallied behind kills from Mackiewicz and Atchison, sandwiched around a Simmons error, to pull even at 17-17.

The Sharks took their final lead at 24-23 following a block assist by Hart and Kieon, but the Green and White responded, taking advantage of a pair of errors and using a kill from Atchison, to score the final three points, closing out the match with a 26-24 third-set triumph.

Both teams return to action on Friday as Babson travels to Rivier College for a 7 p.m. start while Simmons plays the first of two matches at the MIT Invitational against Wellesley College at 4 p.m.
