Simmons Notches Sweep at Lasell Tri-Match

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons volleyball took an early lead and never looked back as the Sharks defeated the Regis College Pride 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-16) Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center in non-conference action. With the win, the Sharks move to 6-5 overall while the Pride fall to 4-11.

Simmons vs Lasell

The Sharks took a three set victory against the host Lasers, winning 25-15, 25-16 and 25-18 in the opening match of the day. Simmons used a potent hitting attack, tallying 39 kills in three sets for a .281 hitting percentage to control the match throughout.

Raeann Nesta (Niantic, Conn.) led the way for Simmons with 11 kills, while Caroline Boyd (Hampden, Mass.) notched nine kills and Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) finished with seven kills and 10 digs. Kyla McCabe-Corrow (Madbury, N.H.) handed out 30 assists directing the Sharks attack.

Sharisse Scott-Rawlins (Brockton, Mass.) and Anna Feeter (Peterboough, N.H.) led Lasell with seven and six kills respectively, while Jordan Seid (Rowland Heights, Calif.) had a match-high 13 digs.

Simmons vs Albertus Magnus

Simmons University took advantage of the rhythm they finished their opening match with and rolled right into the first set versus Albertus Magnus firing on all cylinders. The Sharks cruised to scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-15 to collect their ninth GNAC victory.

Raeann Nesta again finished with a match-best 11 kills, while Caroline Boyd chipped in with seven kills, and Rachel Dufault and Brittany Hill (Milford, Mass.) each added 6 kills. Kyla McCabe-Corrow again orchestrated a balanced attack collecting 30 assists in the process. Simmons libero Chanel Thomas (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished with 16 digs and Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) joined her in double figures with 10 digs.

Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) and Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) posted team-best three kills for Albertus Magnus, and Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) led the defensive effort with 10 digs.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament will begin on Tuesday October 30th with pairings to be released shortly after the conclusion after Saturday's conference matches wrap up.
