Two Sharks Receive GNAC Rookie of the Week Honors

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis freshman Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) and volleyball first year Raeann Nesta (Niantic, Conn.) were each named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week announced Tuesday.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis freshman Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) and volleyball first year Raeann Nesta (Niantic, Conn.) were each named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week announced Tuesday.

Cokely, a member of the Sharks tennis team, enjoyed a great start to her collegiate career, posting a combined 4-0 record for Simmons. Cokely helped the Sharks to 5-4 victories over Mount Holyoke and Clark University by registering wins in both singles and doubles action and dominated the third singles spot against the Cougars, 6-0, 6-1.

Nesta played in every set of the Sharks eight matches this week and led the team on offense with 97 kills and a .311 hitting percentage. The rookie was named Most Outstanding Player at the Colby College Invitational and posted 10 or more kills in seven of the eight contests this past week.
