Sharks Overpowered By Amherst, 3-0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Senior Caroline Boyd (Hampden, Mass.) and freshman Raeann Nesta (Niantic, Conn.) each registered seven kills to lead Simmons to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening by game scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-9 in a match played at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons volleyball fell to the Amherst College Lord Jeffs, 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-16) in their last regular season home game Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center. The Sharks (14-12, 5-2 GNAC) honored their seniors, Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.), Caroline Boyd (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) before the game for their dedication and contributions to volleyball program.

The Lord Jeffs took control early with impressive offense and consistent defense. Sharks freshman Chanel Thomas (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Simmons defense with 10 digs, while Boyd and Raeann Nesta (Niantic, Conn.) each posted five kills.

Down 2-0 after two quick sets, the Sharks took the lead three times in the third set, swapping points with the Lord Jeffs with the score tied at 16. The Amherst middle hitters then took control and went on nine-point streak to solidify the win.

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, October 20th at a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match at Rivier College at 10:00 a.m.
