GNAC Women's Volleyball 2011 Playoff Schedule Announced

WORCESTER, Mass. ? Simmons senior Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) recorded team-high totals of nine kills, 33 digs and three service aces to help lead the Sharks to a 3-1 triumph over Worcester State in non-conference women?s volleyball action this evening at the Lancer Gymnasium.

NEWTON, Mass. ? The Sharks defeated Mount Ida College Mustangs 3-2 in their opening matching at a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon. Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) lead the sharks with 16 kills and 24 digs. Junior Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) added 35 assists and 19 digs, while Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) was a force on defense with 26 digs.

The Sharks, who finished the regular season with a conference record of 9-4 and an overall record of 19-9 will host #5 Norwich University (8-5, 16-9), on Tuesday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m.

Simmons Volleyball is ranked #4 as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced the Playoff schedule today. The Sharks, who finished the regular season with a conference record of 9-4 and an overall record of 19-9 will host #5 Norwich University (8-5, 16-9), on Tuesday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m.

The 2010 GNAC Runner-up, Emerson College secured a first place seeding in the 2011 GNAC tournament after achieving an undefeated 13-0 conference record and an overall record of 22-7. The Lions had a critical victory over longtime rival #2 Rivier to lead them into the top playoff seeding.

Rivier has earned a second place regular season finish with a conference record of 12-1, and an overall record of 19-13.

Seeded third is Emmanuel, who earned a conference record of 10-3 and an overall record of 20-14. Rounding out the bottom teams are #6 St. Joseph's Maine (8-5, 19-11), #7 Lasell (8-5, 16-8), and #8 Johnson & Wales (8-5, 10-24).
