Simmons Volleyball Adds Two Conference Wins at Suffolk University Tri-Match

BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons Volleyball jumped to a 2-0 record in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with wins versus Norwich University and Suffolk University on Saturday at Suffolk University in Boston, Mass. Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) paced the Sharks with 30 Kills, 3 Service Aces, and 6 Digs against conference rival Norwich and 14 Kills, 1 Service Ace, and 10 Digs versus Suffolk University.

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons Volleyball jumped to a 2-0 record in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with wins versus Norwich University and Suffolk University on Saturday at Suffolk University in Boston, Mass. Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) paced the Sharks with 30 Kills, 3 Service Aces, and 6 Digs against conference rival Norwich and 14 Kills, 1 Service Ace, and 10 Digs versus Suffolk University.

The Sharks battled back from a loss in the first game against Norwich to win 13-25, 25-22, 25-14. "The girls settled in and trusted their skills on the court to battle back in the second game" said Coach Vaccari. Senior Kate Fionte (Andover, Mass.) and Rossi Fish (Attleboro, Mass.) added to the Sharks offense with seven and 11 Kills, respectively. Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) and Nafessa Connolly (Natick, Mass.) led the Sharks in Digs throughout the match.

Simmons swept their second match of the day in hard fought games against the Suffolk Rams, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22. Leading the match on defense was defense specialist Sandy Lor (Fitchburg, Mass.) who supplied 20 Digs, a season high for the sophomore. Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) added 16 Digs and 27 assists against the Rams, while Flynn recorded 14 Kills in the win. The Sharks move to 6-1 on the season with the wins, while the Rams fall to 1-6.

Simmons will host Mass Maritime on September 15th at 7:00 p.m. for a non-conference match.
