Sharks Volleyball Remains Undefeated in GNAC

NEW HAVEN, Conn. ? The Simmons Sharks remained undefeated in conference play Saturday as they swept GNAC conference rivals Albertus Magnus and Anna Maria in women?s volleyball action at the Albertus Magnus Tri-Match. The Sharks posted a 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-18) decision in the win against the Falcons and a 3-0 (25-21, 25-8, 25-22) against the AMCATS to move to 11-2 overall.

NEW LONDON, N.H. ? The Colby-Sawyer College volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep against Simmons in non-conference action on Thursday evening. The Chargers won by scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 27-25. Colby-Sawyer, who donned pink jerseys in support of the cure for breast cancer, evens its record to 14-14, while Simmons drops to 16-7.

Sharks junior Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) registered 12 digs while Caroline Boyd (Wilbraham, Mass.) lead the offense with eight kills. Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) dished out 11 assists and added six digs in the loss. Simmons registered 13 kills in each set, while hitting 21.5% on the afternoon.

In the second match of the day, the Sharks looked to sophomore Taylor Nisbet (Dartmouth, Mass.) who had 10 kills and two solo blocks to set the tone early. Setter Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) posted 29 assists in the sweep. Simmons moves to 4-0 in the GNAC with the win.

The Sharks travel to UMass Dartmouth on September 27th for a 7:00 p.m. match.
