BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons senior outside hitter Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) recorded her 1,000th career kill this afternoon to help the Simmons volleyball team defeat Saint Joseph's College (Conn.), 3-0 at Johnson & Wales in the final GNAC tri-match of the season.

Needing only 7 kills going into the tri-match to record the career milestone, Flynn wasted no time in reaching the accomplishment. She finished the three-game match with 17 kills and 15 digs. The Sharks battled host's Johnson & Wales in the second match, where Flynn continued to shine, posting 21 kills as the Sharks fell to the Wildcats, 3-1.

Flynn was named GNAC Rookie of the Year and Simmons College Rookie of the Year in 2008. She was also ranked #1 in the nation in Division III for aces per set with 1.3 in her rookie season. She has been twice been named to the GNAC All-Conference Second and the GNAC All-Conference Third team.

The Sharks will return to the court on Tuesday, November 1st when they play in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference quarterfinal match. Time and opponent are yet to be determined.
