Flynn Selected to NEWVA All-New England Senior Classic

BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons Volleyball won the first game but were tripped up by crosstown rival Emmanuel College Saints 4-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20), in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action Tuesday night. With the win, the Saints move to 15-13 overall and 7-2 in the GNAC while the Sharks fall to 15-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) was selected as one of New England?s top 33 Division III senior volleyball players announced by the New England Women?s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Tuesday afternoon. Flynn will compete in the 2011 NEWVA Senior Classic on December 4th, at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) was selected as one of New England's top 33 Division III senior volleyball players announced by the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Tuesday afternoon. Flynn will compete in the 2011 NEWVA Senior Classic on December 4th, at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

The Senior Classic will feature a skills competition beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the all-star match at 11:30 a.m.

Flynn posted an outstanding season for the Sharks, recording 403 kills (0.256 hitting percentage), 65 service aces, and 352 digs, and reached the 1,000th career kill milestone against Johnson & Wales University on October 29th. Flynn was named to the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference First Team, the GNAC All-Conference Sportsmanship Team, and the GNAC All-Tournament Team as she lead the Sharks to the conference semifinals for the first time in program history.

The Sharks went 20-10 under first year head coach Alesia Vaccari, who was named GNAC Volleyball Coach of the Year earlier this month.
