Sharks Sweep Bears in Volleyball

BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons Volleyball defeated Bridgewater State University 3-0 in non-conference play Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center in a closely contested match, elevating their record to 9-2, a program-best in recent years.

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons Volleyball defeated Bridgewater State University 3-0 in non-conference play Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center in a closely contested match, elevating their record to 9-2, a program-best in recent years.

The Sharks were down early in the first game but rebounded for a 25-20 win with strong play by Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) and Sandy Lor (Fitchburg, Mass.). The second game went point for point, ending with Simmons edging the win, 28-26. Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) posted 4 Kills and 15 Digs to boost the Sharks, while Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) posted 20 assists.

Simmons dominated play in the third game, taking the lead at eight, for the win 25-10. Taylor Nisbet (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Rossi Fish (Attleboro, Mass.) were solid on defense with five and four blocks, respectively.

The Sharks travel to GNAC conference rival Albertus Magnus for a Tri-Match on Saturday, September 24th for matches at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The Bears travel to Emerson College on September 22nd for a 6:00 p.m. match.
