Volleyball Drops Match to WPI in Season Opener, 3-2

Simmons Volleyball is about to embark on another season under Head Coach Jason Conetta, who in 2008 led the team to its first winning season since 1999, in his second year at the helm of the program. The Sharks closed the season with a 13-11 overall record, and a 6-6 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The Sharks also entered the GNAC postseason with its highest-ever 7th seed ranking.

Simmons Volleyball opened the season at home on Tuesday night, falling to WPI, 3-2. The Sharks opened the match by taking two straight sets, but failed to follow through on the next three despite the promising start to the evening.

Simmons attempted a rally in game five with a 11-10 lead, but several errors cost them the game with a final score of 15-12.

Simmons Volleyball will travel to the Emerson Tournament on Friday, September 4 at 6:00 PM and Saturday, September 5 at noon.
