Volleyball Falls to Lynx, 3-1

Simmons Volleyball earned a 3-1 win over local non-conference program Newbury College on Wednesday night, playing their first game at home in four weeks. The Sharks relished their home court advantage, and with the victory improve to 8-10 overall, and remain at 2-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Simmons Volleyball was defeated by non-conference Lesley University on Wednesday night, 3-1. The Sharks won the first set but was steamrolled by the Lynx for the next three. With the win, Lesley improved to 11-12 (3-2 NECC) while Simmons falls to 12-15 on the season, and remains 6-4 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Simmons freshman setter Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) dished out 21 assists and added a match-high 10 aces. Five of Dufault's 10 assists came in the second set during a seven-point streak for the Sharks. Defensively, Dufault had 10 digs to lead all players.

Junior Taylor Pederson (San Antonio, Texas) led Simmons with seven kills and had two total blocks. Freshman Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) and sophomore Kate Fionte (Andover, Mass.) each added six kills apiece in the loss.

Simmons will host Norwich University on Saturday, October 31 at 1:00pm, for the final GNAC match of the season, and will celebrate Senior Day for Amanda Weaver (Eaton, Ohio) and Jessica Hambleton (Methuen, Mass.).
